Alpine has signed a new power unit Technical Director who has formally worked for Mercedes and Ferrari, to oversee their Formula 1 power unit division.
Eric Meignan has joined Alpine's engine base in Viry-Chatillon this month, taking over from Bruno Famin who is now responsible for all of Alpine's motorsport activities.
Meignan takes up the role having recently left Ferrari as Head of Department, after three and a half years at the Maranello-based team.
He also previously held the position of Head of Department a Chief Engineer at Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains.
“We can confirm that Eric Meignan has joined the team as Technical Director of Viry, reporting to Bruno Famin,” said an Alpine spokesperson to F1.com.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise and will oversee the development of the Alpine PU, with a specific focus on the 2026 regulations.”

Important changes for Alpine
The arrival of Meignan gives Famin more capacity to focus on reviving Alpine's F1 project, following a number of key management changes midway through the season.
Famin took up the role as Interim Team Principal, while Julian Rouse was named Interim Sporting Director and Matt Harman overlooks their technical team.
The team parted ways with Otmar Szafnauer and long-time Sporting Director Alan Permane during the Belgian Grand Prix.
Pat Fry also left the team to join Williams as Chief Technical Officer, while Laurent Rossi was also shuffled aside from his role as CEO.
