Max Verstappen has taken to social media to express disgust with Lewis Hamilton. Releasing a short statement on Twitter and Instagram, Verstappen spoke from hospital where he has been taken for precautionary checks after the collision between himself and Hamilton.

Verstappen went through a 51G impact with the barriers after being struck on the right rear by Hamilton's Mercedes, with the stewards giving a ten second time penalty to the reigning Champion for the clash. Hamilton was able to recover from this to win the race after a brief red flag to remove Verstappen's car.

"Glad I’m ok. Very disappointed with being taken out like this," said the short statement from Verstappen.

"The penalty given does not help us and doesn’t do justice to the dangerous move Lewis made on track. Watching the celebrations while still in hospital is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behavior but we move on."

Verstappen's sentiments echo that of his bosses, with Christian Horner laying all the blame for the incident at Hamilton's feet, while Helmut Marko has called for a race ban for the Mercedes driver.
